Waking very early we go into Glacier National Park. Sooo amazing! We thought we seen a lot, but Glacier is truly Great, as in Great Big Mountains, rushing up from the plains, with sparkling glacier turquoise lakes at the bottom.

Driving the “Going to the Sun” highway is all of that and more! Too big to get in one photo. We take a hike to Avalanche Lake with mountains in a panorama around us and then up to Logan Pass (Continental Divide). On the way down we hike to Sun Point for the view of the lake and mountains. At Sunset we go back to Logan pass.

We hike up toward Hidden Lake and get higher and higher
and watch the “hoary marmots” playing and watch the sun changing. It is going to bed later and later as we head north, which means we get later sunsets and longer days still.

We watch as the opportunistic Big Horn Sheep we had hungered to photograph earlier came to the parking lot as we prepared to watch the sunset, licking the spilled sodas and food the tourists left on the parking lot. Three big males and some great photos! Then more sunset photos down the road as we find a place to sleep by a big lake nearby.
