Safely across we head to Mt Baker Wilderness area and enjoy lovely views and sunset before sleeping in its shadow

Tuesday, August 4, 2009 White Rock

After sleeping in Sandra’s great new bed she gives over to us, Myia has a few clients and then we spend the afternoon as Sandra teaches us Chinese Mah Jong. Good for all of our memories and workings! Another lovely dinner prepared by Sandra and sleep very well. We introduce Sandra to Couchsurfing.com and get her signed up. We take photos of her for the profile. She is still beautiful!

Monday, August 3, 2009 To White Rock

Back now completely on dry land really now we finally sleep in and then reorganize our life = our van and head down to White Rock where our good friend who use to live on Maui, Sandra, lives. We see her lovely brand new elegant apartment furnished with her family and personal treasures and her new special purchases. She is more relaxed and herself that we have seen. She says this is due to sleeping better as a result of feeling more secure than she has for years, now living in her own place and completely in charge of her own life.

Sandra treats us to a special homemade dinner. Then we go out to find the sunset on the water. So wonderful to spend time with good friends

We see more of Vancouver, Early morning in Stanley Park early with totem poles and great views. Then go to Science of Mind Church in Vancouver

Got to Burnaby Mountain and the dog park / lake with Cheryl and the dogs.

Saturday, August 1, 2009 End of the cruise and fireworks

We arrive in Vancouver in the morning. Taking time to get thru customs and off the ship.

We are happy to find our parked car in the same state as we left it and head to our couchsurfing host, Cheryl and Bill and their 2 fabulous dogs. In the evening James takes us to the beach to watch fireworks.

Friday, July 31, 2009 A day at sea

This is our last full day on the boat and at sea. Myia goes to a Making Towel Animal Demonstration by the housekeeping staff – fun! And we attend a lecture about the ship and its capacities – it makes its own water, and handles all its own sewage!

A last look at the dessert buffet and one last great meal from the dining room with our ship “family”.

Thursday, July 30, 2009 Juneau

We walk in Juneau town and call our couchsurfing friend, Keith, who picks us up and takes us to the Mendenhall Glacier a mile out of town.

We get our first glimpse of the red salmon migrating upstream.

Then he takes us to a beautiful BIG Alaskan lake where we get another great view of the Mendenhall Glacier. We then go up to an old mining area that is now a park. The Juneau Mines which were right in town were the best producers of gold ever.

Keith shows us his house in town and drops us at the State Museum before we head back to the ship and sunset.

We see the salmon migrating up the stream. The stream is literally filled with fish, so many you could walk over them. Salmon only migrate once, as soon as they come into fresh water they start to deteriorate, after spawning they die. The birds are having a feast day though.
